About the syllabus

International Dance Teacher’s Association (I.D.T.A)

We are a niche dance school, with less than 100 pupils, we prefer quality over quantity!

Louise is a qualified I.D.T.A dance teacher and started introducing I.D.T.A syllabus during her classes in 2015 without the students even realising, this is because the syllabus is fun!! I.D.T.A exists all over New Zealand, Asia, UK, Europe and America but it is yet to start here in Australia. L.C.D Academy, will be the first to formally bring this new and exciting syllabus to Australia. She has since become a qualified Dance Examiner.

As a leading dance qualifications body and membership association for professional dance teachers, with over 7000 members in over 55 countries, I.D.T.A define standards across the widest variety of dance forms, examine performance for both professionals and non-professionals of all ages, develop the skills and professional practice of our members and promote the love of dance across a dynamic, global community. Exams will occur every second year and are OPTIONAL (but of course encouraged!) The next set of dance exams are in 2018 and will be for Ballet, Jazz, Acro and Hip Hop. Whilst they are still optional, they are encouraged for structure and achievements.

LCD Academy structures it’s teaching of technique based on the IDTA Syllabus. Syllabus work is the key to providing a well-trained dancer, and the syllabus is designed so that students learns and masters the basics and is then able to build upon this with steps and techniques that increase in difficulty as the student progresses.
